Found out Tuesday that I've been cast in The Burial at Thebes. A new translation of Sophocles' Antigone, it has the usual Greek chorus, of which I'll be a member. It'll be interesting to be in a chorus that doesn't sing, and I'll face the challenge of learning text not set to music, but I've done it before so I know I'll manage.
I haven't done a straight play (i.e., no music) in 5 or 6 years, unless you count the non-singing role of Mae Peterson in Bye Bye Birdie a few years ago. This will also be the very first tragedy I've ever done, and the first classic Greek drama; I'm looking forward to seeing how the director handles the chorus.
